என் கை பற்றி நடக்கையிலே
தன் கை வேலின் மிசை ஆணை
வைத்து அவன்சொன்ன மொழிதனை
சிந்தை செய்வாய் -என்று
சொல்லவல்லாயோ கிளியே
சொல்லவல்லாயோ

மறவேன் மறவேன் என்று வேலின் மேல்
ஆணை இட்ட மன்னவரும் மறப்பாரோ மயிலே

Sometimes they are used as metaphors for actual people. Not sure how it is intended here.
Also, even if they are real parrots or peacocks, it might just be that they are pillars for venting / expressing their love or sorrow!
